FAQs
Below are some of the key things you need to know about our Hart Health Walks:
- Walks are FREE to attend, but there will be a small charge for refreshments at the end of the walk.
- Walks are led by volunteer walk leaders and back markers on risk-assessed routes, which are usually circular.
- Hart Voluntary Action asks all walkers who plan to attend on a regular basis to complete a registration form – this is for insurance purposes and emergency contact purposes only.
- Hart Health Walks are open to all over-18s, but tends to attract adults who are retired or semi-retired.
- Walkers can come on their own or with a friend, carer or companion.
- Long walks last for about 1 hour (2.5 miles maximum distance). Short walks (slower pace and shorter duration – no more than 40 minutes) are available at Crookham Village and Hartley Wintney.
- All walks will involve walking at a brisk pace for part of the walk to help raise the heart rate.
- Each location offers a different type of walking experience, from dense woodland in Blackwater, to open heathland in Hartley Wintney and Yateley, and local history in Odiham.
- Walks will generally include a mixture of footpaths and pavements, so suitable footwear is required.
- Please also dress for the variable British weather!
- Because of the terrain, Hart Health Walks are not suitable for people with wheelchairs or mobile walkers.
